DALLAS — The Seattle Orcas saw their winning momentum snapped on Sunday afternoon, falling to the Los Angeles Knight Riders by 81 runs at Grand Prairie Stadium.
Despite the result, Seattle once again found encouraging contributions with both bat and ball in its latest 2026 Major League Cricket clash.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Seattle's attack produced a number of important breakthroughs against a powerful Knight Riders batting lineup, eventually bowling Los Angeles out on the final delivery of the innings. Ottniel Baartman and Jasdeep Singh led the way with three wickets apiece, while Dasun Shanaka also claimed two key wickets to keep pressure on the Knight Riders throughout the innings. Ali Sheikh picked up his maiden Major League Cricket wicket as the bowling unit continued its strong collective effort against one of the tournament's most explosive batting orders.
The team repeatedly found ways to halt momentum and prevent Los Angeles from pulling away completely, showing the persistence and discipline that have been hallmarks of the team's early-season performances.
Chasing 197 for victory, Seattle faced a challenging start but continued to compete throughout the innings. Matthew Breetzke once again demonstrated his attacking intent at the top of the order before falling in unfortunate fashion, while Shayan Jahangir contributed valuable runs during the powerplay. Shanaka entertained with a few solid hits in the middle overs, and Harmeet Singh provided late resistance with an energetic knock that highlighted the determination within the lineup.
While Seattle Orcas were unable to mount another successful chase, the match provided further evidence of the depth developing within the squad. The team now turns its attention to the next phase of the season in California with confidence in the talent and character within the group. Having already demonstrated its ability to post big totals and chase down imposing targets, Seattle has plenty of reasons to remain optimistic moving forward.
With several players showing strong form and meaningful contributions coming from across the roster, the Orcas will take the lessons from Sunday's match and quickly refocus on the opportunities ahead as they continue their pursuit of a playoff position.
