DALLAS — The Seattle Orcas wrapped up their 2026 Major League Cricket season on Saturday evening, falling to the San Francisco Unicorns by six wickets at Grand Prairie Stadium despite another fighting performance.

Although the result brought the team's postseason hopes to an end, the Seattle Orcas once again showcased the resilience and determination that defined their campaign, producing an impressive batting display and giving themselves every opportunity to compete while remaining in postseason contention until the closing stages.

After being asked to bat, Seattle's top order laid the foundation for a competitive total. Matthew Breetzke continued his excellent debut Major League Cricket season with another composed half-century, while captain Marcus Stoinis narrowly missed out on a 50 with a valuable 49. Shimron Hetmyer added an aggressive 36, ensuring the Orcas maintained momentum through the middle overs before finishing on a challenging total of 190 for 7. The contributions throughout the lineup once again highlighted the depth that developed within Seattle's batting unit over the course of the season.

Defending the target, Seattle's bowling attack continued to compete despite the absence of regulars Ottniel Baartman, the leading wicket-taker in Major League Cricket this season, and Dasun Shanaka, the team's star all-rounder. Debutants Lutho Sipamla and Tanveer Sangha made encouraging starts in Seattle Orcas colors, each contributing disciplined spells, a wicket apiece and providing optimism for the future. Supported by the rest of the attack, the pair helped keep the contest competitive as Seattle battled until the final stages of the chase.

Memorable Moments

While the Seattle Orcas' postseason journey comes to an end with the conclusion of the regular season, the campaign featured a number of memorable moments, including historic victories, standout individual performances and the continued growth of the squad. From Tim Seifert's outstanding season at the top of the order to Marcus Stoinis' leadership and all-around contributions, along with the bowling brilliance of Ottniel Baartman and Jasdeep Singh, the team consistently demonstrated belief, resilience and a commitment to playing the Seattle Orcas brand of cricket.

The Seattle Orcas also extend their sincere thanks to every fan who supported the team throughout the 2026 season. Your passion and unwavering encouragement meant everything to the players and staff. While the postseason will continue without Seattle, the foundation built this year provides plenty of optimism for the future, and the team looks forward to returning stronger next season.
