OAKLAND, Calif. — The Seattle Orcas produced a commanding all-around performance on Thursday night, defeating the Washington Freedom by 88 runs at the Oakland Coliseum to claim their second victory of the season and complete a season sweep of last year's runners-up.

After posting a massive 227 for 6, the Seattle Orcas backed up their batting effort with a clinical display with the ball, bowling Washington out for 139 in 16.2 overs.

Seattle's innings gathered momentum through contributions across the batting order before Shimron Hetmyer and Marcus Stoinis provided the finishing touch. Hetmyer produced a blistering 79, without getting out, clearing the ropes repeatedly to lift Seattle Orcas to their highest total of the season. Stoinis also played an aggressive hand, hitting five sixes in the 17th over and ensuring Seattle maintained pressure on the Freedom throughout the innings. The top order chipped in with another positive start, allowing the middle order to capitalize and finish strongly.

Huge Wicket Haul

Defending a challenging total, Seattle's bowlers wasted little time taking control. Jasdeep Singh spearheaded the attack with a superb five-wicket haul, four of those wickets coming in his first two overs during the Powerplay to derail Washington's chase. Ottniel Baartman and Cameron Gannon provided excellent support, while the fielding unit maintained high energy throughout the innings with sharp catching and ground fielding to keep the Freedom under pressure. Washington never managed to build the partnerships it needed as Seattle completed one of its most convincing victories of the campaign.

The result highlighted the balance developing within the Seattle squad. Contributions came throughout the batting lineup before the bowling attack and fielding unit combined to produce Seattle's most complete performance of the season, with every department playing its part.

The victory provided another boost in confidence as the Seattle Orcas began their California swing in style. With momentum building once again, the team will look to carry that form into their next challenge against the San Francisco Unicorns on Friday night at the same venue, with first ball scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
