Seattle Orcas have re-signed West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer as their second international player ahead of the 2026 Major League Cricket season, adding an experienced T20 performer to their roster.

Hetmyer has scored more than 6,500 runs in T20 cricket at a strike-rate above 144, establishing himself as a consistent middle-order presence in the format. Hetmyer returns to the Seattle Orcas, playing 10 matches and scoring 399 runs in the MLC. He was a key player for the franchise in the 2025 season, playing various vital knocks. Known for his ability to accelerate late in an innings, he has frequently been deployed as a finisher across global leagues.

A left-handed batter, Hetmyer combines power with placement, allowing him to score against both pace and spin. His ability to adapt to match situations, whether rebuilding or attacking, has made him a regular selection in franchise competitions, including the Indian Premier League and Caribbean Premier League.

Hetmyer’s experience in high-pressure environments is expected to play a key role for Seattle. His presence adds depth to the middle order and provides an additional option in the closing overs, an area that often proves decisive in T20 matches.

The re-signing strengthens Seattle’s batting unit and offers greater flexibility in team composition. With the ability to contribute in multiple match scenarios, Hetmyer is expected to play a key role as the team builds towards the 2026 season.
