Seattle Orcas have added South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi to their squad ahead of the 2026 Major League Cricket season, further strengthening their pace resources with an experienced international option.
Ngidi has established himself as a consistent wicket-taking presence in white-ball cricket. In T20s, he has taken more than 220 wickets in over 180 matches, while maintaining an ability to strike at key moments in an innings. His record across international and franchise cricket reflects his role as a bowler used in both attacking and containing phases.
A right-arm fast bowler, Ngidi is known for his ability to generate bounce and extract movement off the surface. His strengths lie in his discipline with line and length, combined with variations that make him effective across different stages of a T20 innings. He has regularly been utilized in the Powerplay to target early breakthroughs and has experience operating at the death, where control and execution are critical.
Ngidi has represented South Africa across formats and has been part of major international tournaments, gaining exposure to high-pressure situations. In addition to his international career, he has featured in leading franchise leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he has contributed as part of pace attacks in competitive environments.
His addition provides Seattle with another seam-bowling option capable of complementing different styles within the attack. The presence of a bowler with Ngidi’s profile offers flexibility in match planning, particularly in balancing wicket-taking intent with run control. His ability to adapt to conditions and roles is expected to support a structured bowling approach.
As Seattle Orcas continue to assemble their squad for the 2026 season, the inclusion of Ngidi reflects a focus on strengthening core bowling resources. His experience, combined with his ability to contribute in different match situations, adds depth to the pace unit and enhances overall team balance heading into the competition.
