POMONA, Calif. — The Seattle Orcas will open the Pomona leg of their California swing on Thursday evening when they take on MI New York at the new Knight Riders Cricket Ground, with first ball scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
The matchup marks Seattle's first appearance at the venue and its first meeting with MI New York during the 2026 Major League Cricket season, providing another opportunity for the team to build on the momentum generated over the opening six matches of the campaign.
Seattle arrives in Pomona with confidence after winning two of its last three matches, including an emphatic 88-run victory over the Washington Freedom and a 20-run triumph against the Los Angeles Knight Riders. Those performances in Oakland showcased the balance developing within the squad, with meaningful contributions coming from every department.
The batting unit has continued to be one of Seattle's biggest strengths this season. Tim Seifert has led the way with a century and multiple half-centuries at the top of the order, while Shayan Jahangir and Matthew Breetzke have consistently provided positive starts. The middle order has added further firepower through Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis and Dasun Shanaka, whose match-winning half-century against the Knight Riders highlighted the depth within the lineup. Ali Sheikh has also continued to impress with valuable contributions in both batting and bowling.
Seattle's ferocious bowling attack has grown stronger with each outing. Jasdeep Singh's five-wicket haul against Washington Freedom remains one of the standout performances of the season, while Ottniel Baartman has consistently taken momentum changing wickets. Harmeet Singh, Cameron Gannon, Ali Sheikh and skipper Marcus Stoinis have all played vital roles, giving the side multiple options throughout every phase of the innings.
Thursday's contest presents another important opportunity as Seattle looks to reach the top of the Major League Cricket standings against an MI New York side it will face for the first time this season. With confidence growing, players finding form across the roster and the squad continuing to embrace an aggressive, team-first approach, the Seattle Orcas will be eager to make a strong start at a new venue.
