POMONA, Calif. — The Seattle Orcas will wrap up the Pomona leg of their 2026 Major League Cricket campaign on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Texas Super Kings at the Knight Riders Cricket Ground, with first ball scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
The matchup marks Seattle's final game in the Los Angeles area before the team returns to Dallas for the closing stretch of the regular season, providing another opportunity to build momentum as the race for the playoffs continues.
The Seattle Orcas enter Sunday's contest following a tight battle in which the team pushed MI New York to the limit before falling by just five runs in a match that remained in the balance until the final over. Captain Marcus Stoinis led from the front with an outstanding all-around performance, claiming three wickets before top-scoring in the chase to nearly guide the team across the finish line.
The Seattle Orcas will also be looking to avenge their season-opening defeat to the Texas Super Kings in Dallas. Despite posting an imposing 220, powered by Tim Seifert's magnificent century and an excellent 78 from Shayan Jahangir, Texas completed the chase by six wickets due to a Faf du Plessis special. Sunday's rematch presents another opportunity for Seattle to measure the progress it has made since the opening night of the campaign.
The batting unit has been one of Seattle's greatest strengths throughout the season. Seifert has led the way with a century and multiple half-centuries, while Jahangir and Matthew Breetzke have consistently provided positive starts at the top of the order. Shimron Hetmyer, Stoinis and Dasun Shanaka have supplied the finishing power through the middle and late overs, with Ali Sheikh continuing to contribute in multiple facets of the game. In the most recent match, Shehan Jayasuriya also played a valuable innings. Seattle Orcas will look for those contributions to continue as the season enters a crucial stage.
Seattle's bowling attack has also continued to grow with each outing. Jasdeep Singh, Ottniel Baartman and Marcus Stoinis are among the league's leading wicket-takers this season. Meanwhile, Cameron Gannon, Harmeet Singh, Sheikh and Shanaka have all made valuable contributions, giving the team a balanced attack capable of creating pressure throughout an innings.
With determination high within the side and contributions coming from across the roster, the Seattle Orcas will be looking to secure two important points that could move them into the top two in the standings before returning to Dallas for the final push toward the Major League Cricket playoffs.
