At a time when Seattle’s global identity and diverse communities continue to shape the region’s sports culture, the Seattle Orcas today announced the launch of Boundary Builders, a new community-driven initiative designed to expand access to cricket and deepen community connections across the Pacific Northwest.
As one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States, cricket is gaining momentum in the Seattle area, fueled by a vibrant, multicultural population and increasing youth participation. Boundary Builders aims to harness that momentum by partnering with local clubs, schools, and community organizations to make the sport more accessible, visible, and inclusive.
The program focuses on three core pillars: developing cricket at the grassroots level, increasing community awareness through outreach and events, and growing the love of the game across the region.
“Seattle is one of the most diverse and globally connected cities in the country, and cricket reflects that spirit,” said Jagan Nemani, SVP of Operations for the Seattle Orcas. “With Boundary Builders, we’re investing in our communities—creating pathways for young athletes, supporting local clubs, and building a sustainable future for cricket right here in the Pacific Northwest.”
A Local Movement Rooted in Community
From neighborhood parks in King County to schoolyards across the region, Boundary Builders is designed to meet communities where they are in providing resources, programming, and visibility to help local cricket ecosystems thrive.
The initiative comes as the Seattle Orcas continue to expand their presence beyond professional play, including long-term plans for a multi-use cricket community space that will serve as a hub for youth development, events, and cultural connection.
By working directly with local leagues and community leaders, the program will:
- Support youth and adult cricket development programs
- Elevate and connect existing cricket clubs across the region
- Introduce new audiences to the sport through accessible events and activations
- Create opportunities for women’s and youth participation to grow
Building on Seattle’s Community-First Spirit
Seattle has a strong tradition of community-led initiatives—from neighborhood-driven projects to region-wide cultural events—and Boundary Builders reflects that same ethos: empowering communities to shape the future of the sport from the ground up.
The program also aligns with the broader rise of cricket in the U.S., as Major League Cricket continues to expand its footprint and fan base nationwide.
The Seattle Orcas are inviting cricket clubs, schools, and community organizations across the Pacific Northwest to join Boundary Builders by registering and collaborating on future programming.
