OAKLAND, Calif. — The Seattle Orcas will look to close out their Oakland stretch on a high note when they take on the Los Angeles Knight Riders on Sunday afternoon at the Oakland Coliseum. First ball is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time.
Seattle enters the contest encouraged by the progress it has made through the opening five matches of the 2026 Major League Cricket season. The team has picked up impressive victories over the Washington Freedom on two occasions, including a commanding 88-run win on Thursday, while continuing to show resilience and competitiveness in every outing.
On Friday, the Seattle Orcas pushed the San Francisco Unicorns to the limit before falling by just two wickets in a contest that went down to the closing stages. Earlier in the week, the team produced one of its most complete performances of the season, combining an explosive batting display with a disciplined bowling effort to secure a comprehensive victory over Washington. The back-to-back performances highlighted the team's growing confidence and balance as the season reaches its halfway mark.
Seattle's batting lineup has been among the most consistent in the tournament through the opening five matches. Tim Seifert has led from the front with a century, two half-centuries and several influential innings at the top of the order, while Shayan Jahangir has provided strong starts throughout the campaign. Matthew Breetzke has made a telling impact in his debut Major League Cricket season, and the middle order has continued to deliver through the power-hitting of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Dasun Shanaka and Ali Sheikh.
The bowling attack has also continued to develop with each game. Jasdeep Singh's five-wicket haul against Washington Freedom underlined the quality within Seattle's pace unit, while Ottniel Baartman has consistently provided breakthroughs with the new ball. Cameron Gannon, Harmeet Singh, Ali Sheikh and skipper Marcus Stoinis have all made valuable contributions, giving the side multiple options in every phase of the innings.
Sunday's matchup also presents an opportunity to avenge an earlier defeat to the Knight Riders, who claimed an 81-run victory during the opening leg of the season in Dallas. Seattle has grown considerably since that meeting and will be eager to showcase the progress it has made on both sides of the ball.
With players finding form across the lineup and confidence continuing to build, the Seattle Orcas head into Sunday's contest believing another complete team performance can deliver a positive result before moving on to the next stage of their Major League Cricket campaign.
