Seattle Orcas are pleased to announce the signing of Aussie pacer, Nathan Ellis to our squad for Major League Cricket Season 2. Ellis, known for his smart variations, especially during the middle & death overs, has foxed batters around the globe in various leagues and also at the international stage. Not boasting the biggest build for a pacer, but do not let size fool you - few pacers can match Nathan Ellis’ talent with the white ball, be it new or old!
Ellis found his initial entry into cricket tough given his height, but a move to Tasmania from New South Wales gave him his first big break. Eventually he did exceedingly well for the state side and was picked up by Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League. Superb showings in death overs in the BBL fast-tracked Ellis to the national team as he made his debut for Australia in the T20I series against Bangladesh in 2021. Ellis created history as he became the first-ever bowler to claim a hat-trick on T20I debut!
Nathan Ellis has featured around the world in several top teams like Hampshire, London Spirit, and Punjab Kings. He has also been part of the Australian ODI setup, having played 8 50-over matches for the Kangaroos!
Ellis has played in 137 T20 matches so far, and taken a whopping 166 wickets at an impressive average of 23.62 & a strike rate of 17.4. His economy of 8.13 speaks a lot about his quality, especially considering he is a death-overs specialist. Ellis has an insane best bowling figures of 4/6 and we hope he picks up his first 5-for in his stint with us in MLC Season 2! At 29, he is at his prime and gets better with each appearance on the field - definitely among the most wanted fast bowling commodities in cricket at the moment.
Pod Squad, count down to July as we are bound to witness some canny fast bowling with a lot of variations to fool the batters right, left and center. Several death bowling masterclasses are loading in the upcoming Major League Cricket season, courtesy Ellis. We cannot wait to cheer him on!
